9:30am – Registration (9:45am, Solo & Ensemble Evaluations begin)

9:45am – NEW! “The Magic Flute Warm-up” w/ Dr. Terri Sánchez

Bring your flutes and let’s warm up together!

Everyone receives a free copy. 


10:30am – MFC Grace Notes present an exciting program including Ian Clarke’s Within, and Jonathan Cohen’s Flutes & Vegetables, plus flute choir versions of Terri Sánchez’s The Walrus & The Carpenter and The Red Queen!

11:15am – Marianne Gedigian Masterclass w/ Performers from UTA Flute Studio


12:15pm – Pizza & Hangout Time!

Preliminary Recorded Round


1. Any piece written specifically for solo flute that is 7 minutes or less (excerpts from longer flute solos allowed).


2. Email Google Drive, YouTube, iCloud or any other type of link to recordings (video or audio accepted) to utaflutefestival@gmail.com.


3. Include name, school, teacher and category (high school, undergrad or graduate/professional) in the body of the email. Also include title, composer and timing of recorded material.


4. Emailed links and information must be received by 11:59pm on Saturday, Dec 28, 2019. DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL 11:59pm on Sat, Jan 4th! *Finalists notified by Wed, Jan 8th. 


5. Visit utaflutefestival.wixsite.com/2020 to pay your entry fee of $15. Only entrants who have paid the $15 fee will be judged.

Live Final Round


1. The live final round will take place in Irons Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Building at UTA on Friday evening, January 24th from 7pm-9pm.


2. Finalists will perform the same solo flute work from the preliminary recorded round plus A Distorted Fantasy by Hope Beohm (free download at utaflutefestival.wixsite.com/2020).


3. Gift Certificates to Carolyn Nussbaum Music Co. will be awarded to the first prize winner in each category  (High School $50, Undergrad $100, Grad/Professional $100).

$10 Pre-Registration Fee includes one solo and/or ensemble evaluation. If you would like to perform a solo AND ensemble, please fill out the Registration Form twice (once for each entry). Each ensemble member should register and pay a registration fee. Solo and Ensemble entries will not be officially registered until a $10 Pre-Registration Fee is paid for each performer.
